Ella Gillard is the founder of Ella Gillustrations, a sustainable fashion and prints business based in Leeds. She designs whimsical characters inspired by traditional witchcraft beliefs and the symbolism behind them. Within the brand, Ella focuses on screen printing, upcycling, and is currently working on designing a sustainable clothing collection for next year.

After graduating from BA (Hons) Fashion Design in 2022, Ella was awarded a six-month residency on the Leeds Arts University Funded Studio Space scheme to help develop Ella Gillustrations.

"During her residency, Ella made the most of any spare moment by returning to the studio to design and create new products alongside her job. With a lot of stock to make in just six months, Ella used the creative space to its fullest. Toward the end of her residency, she traded at Victorious Music Festival - her first festival and the largest event she had ever traded at. Before this, she had mainly participated in smaller local art markets, so this was a significant leap for her and her business."

"The funded studio residency came at the perfect time for me. I spent every minute of spare time I had designing and creating new stock. Having the space separate from my home helped immensely. It led to me achieving my goal of trading at my first festival, which was also my biggest event yet with an 80,000 capacity. Thank you so much for the opportunity, it helped me grow my business so much!"
