Jas Lewis-Henman graduated from BA (Hons) Illustration in 2020 and has since established themselves as a freelance illustrator and creator.
Throughout their residency with the Funded Studio Space scheme, Jas has developed a business in wearable art, which is both fashion and a commitment to a sustainable practice. They use second-hand, high-quality garments which are repaired through felting with locally sourced wool. In creating one-of-a-kind knitwear, they invite the wearer to immerse themself in a unique, nature-loving narrative. They hope to create a sense of wonder, a worldly connection and encourage others to find whimsy in their world.
Their work explores folklore, nature and the occult, all brought to life through the tactile medium of needle felting. Whether it’s upcycled knitwear inspired by historical figures, or tapestries embodying ancient magical beliefs, each piece is a blend of craftsmanship and personal storytelling. They’re inspired by modern and ancient magical practices - with references to tarot, paganism and bestiaries.
