Sally is a Lecturer on the BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing course at Leeds Arts University and previously lectured at Leeds Beckett University, delivering trend, design, and colour-focused modules to fashion students. She also delivers industry talks across a range of universities, supporting degree programmes in fashion design, fashion marketing, surface design, and textile design.

Sally is currently completing a PhD at the University of Leeds, investigating the role of machine learning in colour forecasting and its application within fashion and textiles. She holds an MA in Textiles and a BA (Hons) in Textile Design.

Alongside her academic work, Sally has an extensive background in colour and trend forecasting. She previously worked as a colour trend consultant and features editor for an international forecasting agency (Colour Hive/MIX magazine) before establishing her own business in 2014.

Her freelance projects include creating bespoke trend forecasts, developing narratives for design collections, and providing research and curation for trade shows and events. This industry experience strongly informs her teaching practice, encouraging students to explore research from multiple perspectives to generate original and critically informed outcomes.

Throughout her career, Sally has worked with a wide range of international brands, including Panasonic, Logitech, Comex Paints, Camira Fabrics, BeautyStreams, Caesarstone, RAL, and L’Oréal. She continues to work on trend-led projects, curate design events, speak at trade shows, and write editorial content with a particular focus on colour theory.

Sally has curated and managed design and trend features for major trade fairs, including Surface Design Show, The Flooring Show, London Stationery Show, and New Designers: One Year In.

Her research interests include the use and accuracy of trend forecasting information, colour analysis, and the evolving role of machine learning in colour prediction. Her combined background in design practice, industry consultancy, and academic research drives her interest in developing future models for colour and trend forecasting.
