BA (Hons) Graphic Design graduate, Fizah Afzal, was selected by the Managing Director of eco-friendly brand Green Traffic Light, to update their logo and branding for use on their skincare and candle products after winning a Careers, Employability and Enterprise brief.
Green Traffic Light was founded with a mission to be a great alternative to the skincare industry by offering natural, vegan, eco-friendly products that are not only beneficial for the skin but also for the environment.
Green Traffic Light collaborated with the University’s Careers, Employability and Enterprise team to set a design brief that was open to students and graduates (within two years of graduating). The winner would design their new company logo and multiple label templates for their products, and in return would receive paid commission.
"For this brief, I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to partake in a freelance project as a new graduate. Skincare branding and packaging design is an area that I have the most interest in, and I felt this project was exactly the type of work I have the most experience in and I enjoy creating! I loved learning and working with a new client and building those professional communication skills that would benefit me in other projects moving forward."
Fizah redesigned the logo as a eucalyptus leaf since eucalyptus is heavily associated with natural skincare, but it also resembles the image of a traffic light and works well with Green Traffic Light's colour palette.
"Collaborating with Leeds Arts University to design our skincare and candles labels, as well as updating our logo, has been a game changer for our brand. Fizah brought a fresh perspective, incorporating elements like natural textures and green tones to reflect our eco-conscious values."
Elda continued; "The updated logo and labels beautifully align with our mission, enhancing the appeal of VERD'ELDA Skincare and EARTHLOOM Candles. This partnership has not only elevated our brand's visual identity but also reinforced the importance of creativity in business growth. We're excited to showcase these designs and continue building meaningful connections between education and enterprise."
