Photography student featured in Amateur Photographer magazine

BA (Hons) Photography

BA (Hons) Photography student Rebecca Pitt was recently featured in the UK's biggest selling photography magazine, Amateur Photographer.

First published in October 1884, Amateur Photographer (AP) is the world’s oldest consumer photography magazine, and the only printed weekly photo magazine.

In recent years Rebecca has worked with PhotoPlus, Amateur Photographer, and Digital Camera Magazine - she is in regular contact with the editors, who select images from her portfolio for upcoming features.

Whilst Rebecca has a keen interest in animal photography, this time the editors expressed interest in seeing more of her fine art work, particularly a project about the passing of her nana. Rebecca tells us that it was: "both surprising and incredibly meaningful."

Features editor Amy Davies interviewed Rebecca for a feature length piece in the magazine, asking about her project exploring memory and grief.

"It’s always nice being featured in a publication, but it felt even more special this time because it was deeply personal work. This is the kind of photography I feel most connected to, and finally being able to share it was something I was quite pleased about."

"Rebecca Pitt’s photography is a bold embrace of both vulnerability and strength—an honest visual dialogue that speaks of womanhood, intimacy, and identity. There’s a compelling tenderness to her images, rooted in her own life experience and creative curiosity. Pitt navigates the personal with a professional eye, using experimental techniques and tactile materials to reflect emotional states that feel at once specific and universal. Her work is as much about process as product—instinctive, empowering, and refreshingly human. It’s exciting to witness a photographer so attuned to the poetry of the everyday, and with such clarity of purpose this early in her career."
