Students from BA (Hons) Fashion Design, BA (Hons) Fine Art, and BA (Hons) Visual Communication, all played an important role in ensuring the success of Fashion Loves Comedy, a pioneering catwalk event which took place at Left Bank Leeds in early December.
After similar shows in London, Fashion Loves Comedy has come home to Leeds. The event featured talented designers, graduates, and students from Leeds Arts University alongside performances from local and well-known comedians, including actor and comedian Kerry Godliman. Taking place at the beautiful Left Bank Leeds, the event also included an exhibition of work from local artists and students from the University, along with a charity raffle.
Transforming conventional fashion events with a focus on collective growth, empowering emerging talents and underrepresented groups, Fashion Loves Comedy fosters creativity and celebrates diverse voices with ground breaking events held in Leeds and London. Final year BA (Hons) Visual Communication student Calyn Da Silva is Creative Project Manager for the events, working closely with founder and independent fashion designer Bo Carter.
Proceeds from the raffle went to Choose Love, a charity providing critical aid to refugees and displaced people. Final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student Reed Morgan designed a bag for the raffle, alongside their role as Volunteer Coordinator, sourcing designers and models and acting as VIP Liaison at the event itself.
BA (Hons) Visual Communication student Zoe Haythornthwaite organised the art market at the event, BA (Hons) Fine Art Student Gaia Bennet worked with BA (Hons) Fashion Design student Sam Reed to curate the Art Exhibition and students from BA (Hons) Photography and BA (Hons) Visual Communication documented the event.
