BA (Hons) Textile Design 2024 graduate, Jenny Hind, has won the Textiles – Print/Embroidery category in Arts Thread’s Global Creative Graduate Showcase 2024.
The Global Creative Graduate Showcase 2024 was the fifth edition of the initiative and was open to all art and design students graduating in the year 2023-24 in any related creative discipline, located anywhere in the world. Over 5,000 students uploaded their end of year projects making it the biggest online showcase of graduating creatives worldwide. Arts Thread’s panel of independent expert judges selected Jenny Hind for the shortlist, and Jenny was formally announced as their winner after the public vote on 21 October 2024.
"I am incredibly grateful to have been chosen as one of the 2024 winners and to have my work recognised out of over 5000 talented graduates. Being able to say that I am one of the winners still hasn't quite sunk in! Now that my graduate collection is being showcased on a global scale across ArtsThreads and Google arts culture, people from all around the world can view my work and it will hopefully reach potential future employers and people in the industry which is so exciting. I put so much work into creating this collection during my final year of university and to have this recognised is so rewarding!"
Jenny continued; “My graduate collection 'Joie de vivre', celebrates the forgotten story of Beatrice Rothschild and her famous pink villa in the south of France, which was developed into a collection of prints for luxury interiors. It was a project that I put everything into creating, spending countless hours hand drawing and painting each and every detail which is a key element of my design practice. Each design was inspired by either historical pieces of text, describing how she lived, her interests or the many elaborately decorated rooms within the villa."
