Visual Communication graduate exhibits in The Artist’s Window
BA (Hons) Visual Communication
Photographs of a sculpture titled 'This’, by recent BA (Hons) Visual Communication graduate Nicole Regine, is the latest artwork to be exhibited at 11 Wellington place and will be on display until early June.
The Artist’s Window is an ongoing partnership with property investment and development business MEPC. Students were asked to submit designs to be exhibited in the windows of buildings at Wellington Place, and the chosen artworks have been on a rolling display since September 2023.
‘This’ is a sculpture based on the theme of safe space, exploring how that can be both physical and abstract, a place, a group of people or even a conversation. The work was inspired by Nicole’s personal experience of moving from her home in Malaysia to study in Leeds, and finding a new safe space amongst the community they found here.
"I’m incredibly honoured to say the least! It’s the first time I’ll be seeing my work displayed publicly so I’m ecstatic for the opportunity. Throughout my time at university, I’ve realised what a difference it makes to have your work interacted with, rather than having it left hidden behind a computer screen. Seeing ‘This.’ featured at Wellington Place also holds particular significance for me as I deeply resonate with their commitment to community and sustainability."
