Profile
Honor Northridge
"While visiting my grandad in Yorkshire, I decided on a whim to look around Leeds Arts Uni, and as soon as I had seen it, I knew it was where I needed to be! The facilities were much larger than any I had seen in the south, and as someone who didn't want to specialise, I loved the idea that I could try screen printing, ceramics, photography, or printmaking in the evenings or on my days off. That is such a luxury, and I still regret not making more use of it while I was there!"
Honor continued; "Alumni from the course had all gone on to do wildly different things, which was so exciting as it showed me there was no set career route. I could really do anything, which, as someone who didn't want to narrow down my mediums, reassured me massively."
Honor honed her skills working on Wes Anderson's last two projects as part of the Assistant Director team and as the on-set 2nd Unit Director's Assistant.
"The course allowed me to make my industry experience and opportunities part of my work that was graded. I would do write ups about my meetings and jobs, analyse what I learnt, record my work and reflect on how it developed my own practice and next career moves. This all became a big part of my course work. They then helped me tailor briefs to be studio/shooting-based and got me into inductions so I could use and learn about more the filmmaking kit."
