Maya Jermy is the Course Leader on the BA (Hons) Games Art and BA (Hons) Games Design courses. She specialises in 3D game art with a focus on digital sculpting in ZBrush. Maya has over a decade of games industry experience. She has worked as a 3D Game Artist and Animator on various gaming projects, including Oddworld: New’n’Tasty by Just Add Water, a remake of the classic and childhood favourite Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. She is a collaborator with 3D World magazine, where she reveals the tricks of the trade to other aspiring artists. Maya was a panellist at the Vertex Conference for 2D and 3D artists in London, where she also did portfolio checks. She is a certified instructor with considerable experience in 3D modelling, digital sculpting character anatomy, and creating all 3D graphic aspects of video games.
Before joining Leeds Arts University in September 2024, Maya was a Core Trainer for the Online Blended 3D Game Art course at Digital Bros Game Academy - part of the Digital Bros Group, a global company that develops, publishes and distributes video games. Before that, Maya was a Course Leader for Animation as well as Esports courses at Leeds City College. She has vast experience and in-depth knowledge when it comes to curriculum development.
Maya holds a BSc (Hons) in Animation Technology and Special Effects with First Class Honours from Leeds Beckett University. She is currently pursuing one of her passions studying MSc Psychology at Leeds Beckett.
