Leeds Arts University are sponsoring Thought Bubble 2024, Yorkshire’s Comic Art Festival taking place from 11-17 November.

Thought Bubble is a week-long celebration of comics, illustration and more taking which takes place in venues across Yorkshire, culminating in a two-day comic convention held at the Harrogate Convention Centre from 16-17 November.

Students and alumni from across undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses will be taking part in a range of events and exhibitions throughout the festival including:

Selected students and alumni from undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including BA (Hons) Comic and Concept Art, BA (Hons) Illustration and MA Illustration with Graphic Novel will be exhibiting their work at Thought Bubble Comicon.

BA (Hons) Comic and Concept Art are exhibiting seventy students' work across second and third year, along with fourteen alumni. Current students are supported by recent graduates and Creatives in Residence, Frank Deacon and Molly Pizey.

Students Molly Pukes and James Lawrence of MA Illustration with Graphic Novel have an exhibition table, along with recent graduates of the course, Blake Sampson and Lauren Asquith, which will feature prints from current first year students too. Blake is also running a Monster Portraiture panel talk which puts questions to high profile comic creators such as Zoe Thorogood, Zara Slattery and Rachael Smith.

MA Illustration with Graphic Novel tutor, Beth Duggleby, is also presenting the Handle with Care workshop which will feature conversations with Sabba Khan, Karrie Fransman and Tim Bird.

Creative Networks x Thought Bubble: James Tynion IV

Creative Networks, the University’s own major professional events programme has partnered with Thought Bubble to bring Eisner Award winning writer and publisher, James Tynion IV to the stage to chat about his career and explore the depths of his craft and experience in industry.
