Second year BA (Hons) Photography students recently collaborated with first year BA (Hons) Acting for Screen students to create a series of images to bring their performances to life.
As part of their module Specialist Photographic Practice, BA (Hons) Photography students worked with actors from BA (Hons) Acting for Screen to create a series of compelling images, including studio headshots, location shoots and rehearsal captures.
Collaborating across courses is an important part of the student experience at Leeds Arts University. This particular project allowed photography students to gain practical industry experience, applying their technical skills in dynamic, real-world scenarios, whilst the actors gained valuable experience performing under professional lighting and creative direction. Students from both courses were able to enhance their portfolios, whilst building interpersonal and professional skills.
“These cross-disciplinary projects demonstrate Leeds Arts University’s commitment to nurturing holistic artistic development. By collaborating across creative fields, students experience the interconnected nature of the arts industry. They learn adaptability, teamwork, and the importance of shared vision—qualities essential for successful creative careers.”
BA (Hons) Creative Writing have also worked closely with BA (Hons) Acting for Screen, writing duologues specifically tailored for the students. This partnership emphasised writing for performance, focusing on dialogue-driven scripts that actors could bring to life on screen. Through workshops and table reads, writers gained insight into how their words transform into performances, while actors explored diverse character dynamics crafted by their peers.
